Write and publish a blog post

Last reviewed October 21, 2026

Set up your blog once, build a reusable post layout, then write, categorize and publish each post.

Blog posts in Flourivate are built in the same page builder as your website. A little setup the first time makes every post after that quick.

Before you start

  • Time: 20 minutes the first time, then however long your writing takes.
  • You'll need: your post text and a cover image.
  • Good to know: a post page shows only what you build inside it. There's no automatic title or cover image, so your starter layout needs to include them.

Step 1: Open your blog

  1. Go to Sites > Blog.
  2. Open your blog site's card. If you don't have one yet, click Create Blog Site and follow the prompts.
  3. The blog manager shows your posts with their Category, Status and Last Updated date, plus Edit Blog Site and New Post at the top.

Step 2: Make a post starter (first time only)

  1. Click New Post. The post opens in the page builder.
  2. Build one branded section with everything a post needs: a heading, a date or "by" line, a cover image, body text, and a call to action at the end (like "Book a free call").
  3. On that section's toolbar, click Save as section template (the folder icon), name it "Blog post starter", choose Section Templates, and click Save.

From now on every post can start from it. See Reuse sections across pages.

Step 3: Write a post

  1. In the blog manager, click New Post.
  2. Click Browse Templates on the empty page (or + > Sections), open My Templates, and click Insert Section on your post starter.
  3. Replace the heading, image and text with your post.
  4. Set the heading's Text Role to Headline, and section headings to Sub Headline. This helps readers skim and helps search engines.
  5. Add Alt Text (For SEO!) to each image.

Step 4: Publish it

  1. Open the post's Publish Settings.
  2. Choose a Category and an Author. Both are required, and the post won't publish without them.
  3. Check the post's title and address, and add a short description if the settings offer one.
  4. Publish.

Create a category before your first post

If the Category list is empty, create one first. One general category, like "Journal" or "Insights", is plenty to start.

Bring in posts from your old blog

In the blog manager, click the small arrow next to New Post:

  • Import Blog Posts from URL: paste a public post address, your old blog's RSS feed, sitemap or blog index into Source URL and click Scan. A feed or sitemap finds more posts than a single page.
  • Import Blog Posts from CSV: click Download CSV Template, fill it in (the title and content columns are required), and upload it with Choose CSV file.

Imports show on the Imported Content and CSV Imports tabs. Open each imported post and check the title, category, images and links before it goes live. Only import writing you own.

Check it worked

  • The post shows Published in the blog manager.
  • Open it in a private window. The title, cover image and call to action all appear.

If something's off

  • The post won't publish: pick a Category and an Author.
  • The post has no title or image on the live page: they must be built inside the post. Add them, or start from your post starter.
  • Your tracking code doesn't run on post pages: website custom code from the Code tab doesn't run on blog posts. Ask us if you need tracking there.
  • Status says "Published, Domain Setup Required": click Fix domain on the row, or see Connect your website domain.
  • Scan is greyed out: the Source URL field is empty.
