Add images and video to a page
Add a photo or video, make it look right on phones, and set a video or image behind a section.
Good photos and a short welcome video do a lot of trust-building for a practice. Here's how to add them so they load fast and fit every screen.
Before you start
- Time: 5 minutes per image or video.
- You'll need: your files. Upload them to your media library first so you can reuse them, or have an image link ready.
- Size your images before uploading. Photos straight from a camera are huge and slow your page. About 2000px wide is plenty for a full-width photo.
Add an image
- In the builder, click +, type image in Search blocks..., and choose Image (under Media).
- Click the new image on the page. The right panel shows General, Styles and Animations.
- On General, under Image, add your picture with Choose from media, by pasting an image URL, or with Generate with AI.
- Fill in Alt Text (For SEO!). Describe the photo in a few words, like "Jane coaching a client at her desk". Screen readers and search engines use it.
- Under Size, set Width to Auto or Percent so the image shrinks on phones. Avoid fixed pixel widths.
- On Styles, under Image Appearance, set Image Radius (rounded corners), Image Border, Opacity and alignment.
Optimize Image Load and Lazy Load are on by default. Leave them on; they help your page load quickly.
Make an image clickable
Under Image Actions (default None), choose what a click does: Go to website Url, Open popup, Download File, Scroll to Element, Call, SMS, Email address, and more.
Add a video
- Click +, search video, and choose Video (under Media).
- Click the video block. On General, under Element Options, set Video Type:
- Hosted Video: you upload the file. Click Select Video.
- Embed: a video that lives on YouTube, Vimeo or similar.
- Pick an Aspect Ratio: 16:9 (the usual widescreen), 4:3, 1:1, or 9:16 for vertical phone videos.
- Click Select Thumbnail to choose the still image people see before they press play. Without one, visitors may see a black box.
- Set the player switches:
| Switch | Starts | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Show Enable Sound Button, Allow Play/Pause, Show Full Screen Toggle, Show Progress Bar | On | Leave on for most videos |
| Auto play | Off | Browsers mute autoplaying video, so turn it on only for silent background-style clips |
| Loop, Allow Playback Speed Control, Show Pending Time, Enable PiP mode on scroll | Off | Turn on as you like |
Generate leads from video shows as coming soon and isn't available yet.
Put an image or video behind a section
- Click the section (not a block inside it).
- On General, under Background, choose Background Mode: Color, Image or Video.
- Choose your image or video in the fields that appear.
- Check the text on top is easy to read. If it isn't, add a darker background color or turn on Background Blur.
Try this on a draft page first, since the builder saves as you go.
Check it worked
- Click the device button to view Tablet and Mobile. The image fits, and the video plays.
- On the live page, the video's thumbnail shows before you press play.
If something's off
- The image spills off the side on phones: set Width to Auto or Percent.
- You changed an image on tablet and desktop changed too: image settings apply to every device. To show a different image on phones, put each version in its own section and use section visibility. See Find your way around the page builder.
- The image changed on every page: it's inside a linked section. See Reuse sections across pages.
- The image looks blurry: it's too small for the space. Upload a larger version.
- A vertical video has black bars: choose 9:16 as the aspect ratio.
- An image disappeared from a live page: it may have been deleted from the media library. Upload it again and reselect it.
