Connect Stripe, live and test mode

Last checked October 20, 2026

Connect your own Stripe account so you can take payments for sessions, courses and memberships, and set up test mode to try things safely.

Flourivate takes payments through your own Stripe account, so the money goes straight to you. You connect it once with two keys from Stripe. Test mode uses a second pair of keys, so you can try a checkout without real money.

Before you start

  • Time: 10 minutes.
  • You'll need: a Stripe account with your business and bank details finished (Stripe won't pay out until it's verified). Sign up free at stripe.com if you don't have one.

Keep your keys private

A secret key gives access to your Stripe account. Paste it only into Flourivate's Stripe screen. Never email or text it to anyone, including us.

Step 1: Copy your live keys from Stripe

  1. Sign in to Stripe and go to Developers > API keys (or open dashboard.stripe.com/apikeys).
  2. Make sure you're in live mode (not Test mode or Sandbox).
  3. Copy the Publishable key. It starts with pk_live_.
  4. Reveal and copy the Secret key. It starts with sk_live_. (A restricted key starting with rk_live_ also works if you use those.)

Step 2: Paste them into Flourivate

  1. In your workspace, go to Settings > Integrations and open Stripe (in the Payments group).
  2. Click Update Stripe keys (or Connect if it's your first time).
  3. Stay on the Live mode tab. Paste the secret key into Live Restricted or Secret Key and the publishable key into Live Publishable Key.
  4. Click Reconnect Live Stripe (or the save button shown).
  5. Click Verify connection. It checks the key with Stripe without charging anything.
  1. In Stripe, switch on Test mode (or open your Sandbox) and go to Developers > API keys again. These keys start with pk_test_ and sk_test_.
  2. In Flourivate, click Update Stripe keys, choose the Test mode tab, paste both test keys and save.

Saving one mode never changes the other.

Step 4: Tell Flourivate where payments go

Connecting isn't the last step. Set Stripe as the default for both live and test payments in Choose where payments go.

Check it worked

  • The Stripe screen shows Connected under Stripe (this workspace).
  • It says payment events are set up automatically. You don't need to change anything in Stripe's dashboard.

If something's off

  • "Invalid request" or the key won't save: check you copied the whole key with no spaces, and that live keys go on the Live tab and test keys on the Test tab.
  • Payments go through but nothing happens afterward: see Payment went through but nothing happened.
