Get to know Accounting

Beta

Last reviewed October 21, 2026

What the Accounting area does, how it differs from Payments, and whether it's worth using in your practice yet.

Accounting is a bookkeeping area inside Flourivate: a chart of accounts, journal entries, bills, expenses and financial reports. It's marked Beta, so treat it as a helpful extra, not a replacement for your bookkeeper or tax software yet.

Before you start

  • Time: 10 minutes to look around.
  • You'll need: your user role to include Accounting. If you don't see it in the sidebar, ask the workspace owner or send us a request.

Where it is

In the sidebar, under PAYMENTS, click Accounting. The heading has a Beta badge. The tabs are:

Tab What it's for
Overview Year-to-date revenue, gross profit, expenses and net income, plus charts for profit and loss, revenue by customer, expense breakdown, money owed to you (AR Aging) and a cash flow forecast.
Chart of Accounts The list of accounts your money is sorted into.
Journal Entries The underlying bookkeeping entries.
Invoices Accounting's own invoice list.
Bills Bills you owe to vendors.
Expenses Money you've spent. See Record a business expense.
Reports Profit and loss, balance sheet and more. See Run financial reports and export your books.
More Everything else, grouped below.

The More menu groups the rest:

  • Banking: Reconciliation (match your bank statement)
  • People: Customers & Vendors
  • Planning: Budgets, Payment Terms
  • Automation: Recurring Transactions
  • Close & Compliance: Tax Settings, Fiscal Periods
  • Controls: Settings, Audit Log
  • Configuration: Accounting Roles, Multi-Currency
  • Integrations: Stripe Auto-Sync
  • Import & Export: Import Data, Exports

Accounting is not where you bill clients

To charge a client, use Payments > Invoices, which sends a pay link through Stripe. See Send an invoice and record payments. The Invoices tab inside Accounting is part of the books.

Our honest recommendation

  • If you already have a bookkeeper or use accounting software: keep it. Use Flourivate's Payments tabs to see what came in, and send your bookkeeper Stripe's reports.
  • If you have nothing yet and want a simple picture: recording expenses here and running a profit and loss report each month can be useful. Export the results regularly so you have your own copy.
  • Before you set up Stripe Auto-Sync: talk to us. It asks you to add a webhook in your Stripe account, and we'd like to make sure it doesn't clash with the payment connection Flourivate already set up.

QuickBooks shows on the integrations screen as Coming soon. There's no date yet.

Check it worked

  • Accounting opens on Overview with four totals cards and charts.

If something's off

  • Everything on Overview says $0.00: that's normal until activity has been recorded in Accounting. Payments taken through Stripe may not show here unless Stripe Auto-Sync is set up.
  • You can't find a page you read about: check the More menu. Most of Accounting lives there.
  • Something looks wrong or doesn't save: it's a Beta area. Send us a request with a screenshot.
