Create a membership plan (access plan)
Bundle courses, community and certificates into a free or paid membership tier, and know what works today.
A membership plan (Flourivate calls it an access plan) is a tier, such as "Free Circle" or "Inner Circle, $49 a month", that unlocks a set of courses, communities and certificates.
Free plans work; test paid plans first
Joining a free plan from the portal works as of Oct 21, 2026: the client clicks Get Started on your portal's plan page (your portal address plus /portal/pricing) and sees "You're in! Your membership is active." Run one real purchase before you sell a paid plan. See Give members access to your community.
Before you start
- Time: 15 minutes per plan.
- The content exists: plans only list published courses and active communities, and certificate templates must already exist. See Build a course and Create your community, channels and first posts.
- For paid plans: Stripe connected and a payment routing default set for both Live and Sandbox. Plans can fail without it. See Choose where payments go.
Step 1: Create the plan
- Go to Learning > Manage > Access Plans.
- Click Create Plan. The Create Access Plan dialog opens.
- Plan Name: what members see, for example "Inner Circle". Required.
- Description: what's included, in a sentence or two.
- Price ($): leave it at 0 for a free plan.
- Billing Interval: Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly or One-time. Pick one of the first three for an ongoing membership.
- Features (comma-separated): short highlights shown as badges on the plan, for example "Monthly group call, Private community, Course library". Use commas, not new lines.
- Leave Active on.
- Click Create Plan.
The dialog has no place to choose content. You do that next.
Step 2: Choose what the plan includes
- On the plan's card, click the ˅ to expand it.
- Use the Courses, Communities and Credentials tabs and tick everything this plan should unlock.
- Check the counts under the plan name, such as "2 courses · 1 community · 0 credentials".
Step 3: Connect a paid plan to Stripe
For a paid plan, click Sync Stripe on the card (or Sync to Stripe in its ⋮ menu). This sets up the plan's price in your Stripe account.
Change or remove a plan
Open the plan's ⋮ menu:
- Edit Plan opens Edit Access Plan. Make changes and click Update Plan. If you changed the price, sync to Stripe again.
- Delete Plan is in red. Turn Active off instead if members are on the plan.
What to do until joining works
- Selling a course? Use a checkout instead. See Sell a course.
- Giving clients a course? Send a portal invite with the course ticked. See Invite clients and give them course access.
- Running a community? See Give members access to your community for the current options.
Check it worked
- The plan card shows your price and interval (for example $49/mo) and Active.
- The counts under the name match what you ticked.
If something's off
- Create Plan is greyed out: fill in Plan Name.
- Your course isn't in the Courses tab: publish it first.
- Your community isn't in the Communities tab: check it's active.
- A member's plan checkout spins or says "Something went wrong": that's the known issue above. Check your payment routing has a global default in both Live and Sandbox, then send us a request. We've reported it and will follow up with you.
