Build a course: modules, lessons, cover image, instructor

Last checked October 20, 2026

Create a course, fill it with modules and lessons, make it look finished, and publish it for your clients.

A course is a set of modules (weeks or chapters), each holding lessons. Clients work through it in your portal.

Before you start

  • Time: 20 minutes for the shell, then however long your content takes.
  • Have ready: an outline (module and lesson names), your lesson videos or text, any worksheets as PDFs, and a cover image (1600 x 900 pixels works well).

Step 1: Create the course

  1. Go to Learning > Courses and click Create Course. (From Template starts from a ready-made outline.)
  2. Enter a Title and a short Description of what clients will get. Leave Price at 0. To sell the course, use Sell a course: from checkout to course access.
  3. Click Create. The course opens on its Curriculum tab.

Step 2: Add modules and lessons

  1. Click Add Module and name it, for example "Week 1: Name Your Season".
  2. In that module, click Add Lesson and fill in:
    • Lesson Title
    • Lesson Type: Video, Text/Article, Quiz or Assignment
    • For video: Upload Video, pick from Media Library, or Paste URL (YouTube, Vimeo and so on). Add the Duration.
    • Content: your notes or the article itself. Headings and lists are available.
    • Attachments: worksheets or slides (up to 10 files).
    • Free Preview: lets people who aren't enrolled see this lesson. Nice for a welcome lesson.
  3. Click Add Lesson. Repeat for each lesson.
  4. Drag modules and lessons by their handles to reorder them.

Step 3: Make it look finished

  1. Open the Settings tab.
  2. Thumbnail: upload your cover image.
  3. Course Details: check the Title and Description, choose a Level and Category.
  4. Instructor: add your Instructor Name and a short Bio.
  5. Click Save Settings.

Step 4: Publish

Click Publish at the top of the course. The status changes to Published, and the button becomes Unpublish. Draft courses don't appear to clients.

If something's off

  • Clients don't see the course: it's still a draft, or they weren't given access. Publish it, then send an invite with the course ticked.
  • The Settings tab says "Stripe is not connected" even though you connected Stripe: you can ignore this for free and invite-only courses. To sell a course, use a checkout form instead. See Sell a course.
